Why this day

If you have one day for the Forest Park, this is the day to have. It takes the heart of the cliff tops in the order that works: the elevator up while it is quiet, the Avatar pillars with the morning light on them, Tianzi Mountain’s viewpoints after the cloud has lifted, and a cable car and a park train to finish, so the walking is on level walkways and the climbing is done by machines. Tickets, time slots and buses are arranged before you arrive, and the guide knows which platform to stand on for the pillar from the film and which one the crowd misses.

The route

Pick-up from hotels in Wulingyuan town at 08:00, then in through the east gate on the “elevator up, cable car down” route. The shuttle bus takes the group to the Bailong Elevator; at the top is Yuanjiajie, with the Lost Soul Platform, the Hallelujah pillar and the First Bridge Under Heaven along railed walkways, one to three hours. A shuttle continues to Tianzi Mountain, stopping at Yangjiajie on the way if time and crowds allow (not promised). Lunch is your own at the snack stalls on Tianzi Mountain, about ¥30–60. After the Helong Park viewpoints the cable car brings the group down, the Ten-Mile Gallery train runs out and back along the valley, and the group leaves by the east gate at about 16:30 and is dropped back at the hotel. The group rides the elevator first thing, while it is quiet: by late morning on busy weekends the wait there can run to an hour, and the early start puts the whole day ahead of it.

What is included, and what is not

Included

  • English-speaking licensed guide
  • Vehicle between your hotel and the park
  • Forest Park entrance ticket (valid four days; the tour uses one) and the shuttle buses
  • Bailong Elevator up; Tianzi Mountain cable car down; Ten-Mile Gallery train out and back
  • PICC (People’s Insurance Company of China) travel accident insurance, accidental death or disability cover up to CNY 1,000,000, reduced for travellers over 70

  • Transfers from outside Wulingyuan town (the city, the railway station or the airport): ask us when you book

Check what a day-tour price includes before you compare: the entrance ticket, the shuttle buses, the Bailong Elevator, the Tianzi cable car and the Ten-Mile Gallery train together cost about ¥400 a person at the gate. Here they are all inside the US$99.

Price and group rules

  • US$99 a person, in US dollars; payments in Chinese yuan are converted at the rate on the day.
  • Travellers aged 12 and over pay the same; for children under 12, write to us for a price.
  • The tour runs with six or more people, ten at most. We confirm three days before departure; if fewer than six have booked, you choose a private day at a quoted difference or a full refund.
  • No departures 1–7 October or in the week around Chinese New Year (6 February 2027).
  • Tell us everyone’s age when you book: tickets are issued by passport and travellers aged 65 and over are entitled to reduced entry.
  • Cancellation: 30 days or more before, full refund; between 30 and 7 days, half; less than 7 days, none. If we cancel for lack of numbers, full refund.

How to book

Email [email protected] with your date, the number of people, the names on your passports and your hotel in Wulingyuan town. We confirm by email and send a card-payment link (a 3% card fee applies); Alipay is also accepted.

Who it suits, weather

An ordinary level of fitness is enough: about 5–7 km of walking, mostly on railed, level walkways with stairs between viewpoints, and the climbing is done by the elevator and the cable car. Children are welcome. Rain is part of the place: the park opens in it, and the hour after it stops is when cloud fills the valleys and the pillars float, which is the view everyone hopes for. If the elevator or cable car pauses for storms or ice, the guide switches to another area or to Yellow Dragon Cave at no extra cost. The guide knows the nearest clinics and can call and translate if anyone needs help.

Ticket prices and opening arrangements last checked October 2026. They change; the tour price does not.

Quick answers

Is one day enough?

For the top of the park, yes: Yuanjiajie, Tianzi Mountain and the Ten-Mile Gallery train. Golden Whip Stream and the whole of Yangjiajie do not fit into one day; they are on the three-day tour.

Are the tickets really all included?

Yes: the entrance ticket, the shuttle buses, the Bailong Elevator, the Tianzi cable car and the Ten-Mile Gallery train.

What if fewer than six people book?

We tell you three days before. You can take a private day at a quoted difference or a full refund.

Can I join from the city?

Yes, if you come to Wulingyuan town first. Ask us about a transfer from the city, the station or the airport when you book.

Does it run in the rain?

Yes. The park opens in rain. If the elevator or cable car stops, the guide switches to another area at no extra cost.

What about lunch?

Your own, at the snack stalls on Tianzi Mountain, about ¥30–60.
